System: No Startup

The inverter does not power up. None of the lights are on.

Monitoring only works when the inverter is powered up. The monitoring device draws its power from the inverter.

The primary cause is that there is no DC voltage or the voltage is not meeting the start up voltage.

The inverter is powered entirely by DC input.

  1. DC Switch off.
  2. Disconnect DC-strings
  3. Check string polarities to make sure they are not reversed.
  4. If there is more than one string, check if the + and – of that string belong together.
  5. Measure DC voltage at the PV string terminals by using a PV meter.
  6. If the DC voltages measured are less than the inverter startup voltage, the inverter will not start. This can be caused by faulty connections in PV strings. Please inspect the array and wire connections.
  7. Voltages on 2 strings going to the same MPPT shall not differ by more than 1 panel voltage difference.
  8. Reconnect the strings

  1. DC Switch on.
  2. Check the DC open circuit voltage at the LCD-screen under Information.
  3. If the DC voltages shown are different from the measurements, an inverter replacement will be necessary. Please raise a case on Helios.
  4. If the DC voltages measured are normal, but the inverter still cannot be turned on, an inverter replacement will be necessary. Please raise a case on Helios

Inverters that do not start up will result in a “Monitoring” issue. Our platform is not able to distinguish between an inverter that stops sending messages and one that does not power up. In both cases, the inverter simply goes quiet.
