Inverter Selection and Overpower

Helios will automatically suggest what it considers the most appropriate inverter for the system according to the digital twin.

Under ‘Design’ on the system overview page, you will be able to access the Inverters page. This page shows you:

  • Module groups: a list of all module groups within your system design, with string groups displayed as well when present.
  • Suggested inverters: Helios will try to calculate the most optimal inverter suggestion, based on the system details and the connection. You can switch between single and three phase, but also select ‘no inverters’, if you wish to complete the design without inverters. You may adopt this suggestion, or create a manual inverter configuration.
  • Inverters: this shows the list of inverters within the system design. You can change the type of inverter with the dropdown menu, remove a selected inverter or add one or more. To add inverters, first select the desired inverter from the dropdown menu, or just start typing in the input field. Then select the number of inverter and click ‘Add’.
  • When finished, you can save the configuration, or save and proceed directly to the string page to set up the string plan for the selected configuration. The ‘Cancel’ button will take you back to the system overview page, without saving changes.

Helios will check your inverter configuration against the relevant system details:

  • Power: does the maximum expected power for the system not exceed the maximum inverter power. This will also show the DC/AC ratio for the current design.
  • MPPTS: Are there enough MPPT’s, available for the number of modules and string groups.
  • Startup: this checks whether the selected inverters match the module and string groups, to prevent that startup voltage are not being reached.

Please note: the inverter selection is updated every time you save your system design, so avoid manual changes until you are happy with your design and ready to proceed.
